Kayla Newsome

Kayla graduated from Stockton University with a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology and a minor in Africana Studies. She has been working with marginalized populations and youth in urban and inner-city areas for over 10 years. Her unique lived experience has aided her in assisting and advocating for foster youths over the last few years. Kayla has had the privilege of working with children who have been diagnosed with autism, attention disorders, and many other behavioral challenges. In her experience as an advocate supervisor for children in the care of the Division and Child Protection and Permanency (formerly DYFS), Kayla has assisted children who have experienced traumas, abuse, and neglect. She continues to build relationships with community partners to mobilize resources for the families that she serves and to continue aiding children in having successful futures.
